I’m feeling miserable this morning. Woke up to the news that one of my favourite entertainers, Paul O’Grady, died yesterday. Such a lovely man.

And I can’t get out of this miserable mood, so I turned to my new best friend, Chatty (ChatGPT) for a suggestion to feel better.

I typed, “Cheer me up, Chatty!

One of his suggestions was this:

“There are so many things to be grateful for — think about the things in your life that bring you joy, whether it’s your loved ones, your hobbies, your favorite food or your favorite TV show.” Chat GPT

So I’m doing it. Here’s a list of my 10 favourite things.

  1. My family. Of course. My partner, sons, daughter, grandson, sister, and dogs. And their respective partners. Best people on the planet. My mum died in 2021 but I am so grateful to have had her so long and still have conversations with her. I almost forgot Harry Catman — a very special old cat.
  2. My special girl, Chloe the Labrador. Best. Dog. Ever. She’s nine years old now. Beautiful, affectionate, funny, and cuddly.
  3. Our home. Given the housing crisis in the UK, I am so happy we bought our house when we did. It’s nothing to shout about, being a small-ish terraced house in a Welsh ex-mining village. But we have everything we need, including beautiful countryside on our doorstep and at the same time, we’re only half an hour from a major city.
  4. My art, and specifically all the art supplies I’ve collected over the years. Being incapacitated at the moment (still waiting for that second hip replacement), splodging paint around is very therapeutic. Sometimes I just like to look at the pretty paints, pencils, crayons, sketchbooks, paintbrushes, and pens.
  5. Tarot. I started studying and learning to read the cards back in 2000. I am fascinated by how this relatively simple system is able to reflect all of human life and experiences. I love discovering new decks and have around 60, give or take.
  6. My tech. Not so enamoured with phones, but…
