I’ve Never Known My ‘Life’s Purpose’. Have You?

I always believed someone forgot to give it to me

Along with those amorphous things called ‘goals’, I’ve never thought I had a ‘life purpose’. If pressed, I said it was bringing three magnificent human beings into the world. I mean, what better life purpose can a person have?

But then there are so many fabulous focused folk who don’t have kids, yet seem to have a purpose in life. Actual purpose: improving the lot of others, increasing the well-being of those needing a helping hand, doing amazing things for charitable causes, lifting everyone’s mood via music, books, movies, etcetera.

So what is my life’s purpose?

I suppose it would be helpful to define what purpose is. For me, I connect it to meaningful work, and not necessarily work we get paid for. It is what we do that will leave the world a better place than when we entered it. It could mean helping others, but equally, it may be some kind of artistry or creative endeavour that will outlive us.

My interests and activities vary. I love art, journaling, sewing, crochet, writing, witchcraft, and tarot. Walking too, when able to walk. I love living in the British countryside and never feel the need to be anywhere else…
